 Week Five of 2016

As week five passes, FIRST Team 2506 Saber Robotics seems to be putting the final touches on each component of their team from wiring the chassis, designing the components, machining and assembling the robot, programming the drive and components and finally setting the backbone of the team to function as a professionals organization. Our progress is shown below

Programming

As the end of build season nears, programming has finally got its hands on a fully functional chassis. Recently they have been working with mechanical to learn more about the different components of the chassis in order to program it accurately. Rookies also learned how the wheels on the chassis interact with each other. Furthermore the programmers developed a break mode which caused numerous errors in the robot but they quickly fixed them. The veterans have broken the programming team into different groups which are working on coding different components of the robot. These groups are also working on side projects that will advance the robot's abilities. In conclusion programming has been cooperating with mechanical and electrical in order to finish the chassis coding.

Business and Marketing

BAM has successfully submitted their business plan and have been working constantly on many of their other projects. One project they have been working on is integrating all media systems and promotions of Saber Robotics in order to express the gracious professionalism of FIRST Team 2506 Saber Robotics. Furthermore they have been creating an advanced scouting program along with perfecting their new website.

Design

The design team is in its final stages as they send the last of their working drawings into the shop. They have finished the air tanks, the pneumatic system and are putting the finishing touches on the chassis. As of recently they have been constructing a portcullis simulator in order to test the robot and its components on all defenses. The design team has also added a cage in order to increase boulder control during competitions. As for now the design team is achieving their goals of being more efficient than previous years.

Mechanical

While being short of a mill the mechanical team has still been making great progress on the working drawings from design. They are on top of the production order and have been continuously communicating with design and programming. Furthermore they have been assembling the parts which have been machined into the robot components that will be going onto the chassis. Also the communication between design and mechanical has paid off as they corrected an error in the chassis measurements and have trimmed it into the regulation size.

Electrical

This week the electrical team has finished up the electrical board. The electrical team has successfully wired a fully functional chassis for accurate driver trials. Although the lack of members and experience on the electrical team has been a challenge it's a challenge they have overcome by working efficiently and learning at a quick pace.

Safety

The safety team this week presented on electrical safety, focusing on content such as working along live wires to operating with the pneumatic system. At the end of the week they tested the whole team on electrical safety by random quizzes. Recently have been administering retakes for any members that failed to answer correctly to any question.
