FIRST POWER UP

We're well on our way to success –Welcome to Week Two of the Team 2506 Saber Robotics build season!

As a recap of the challenge for this year, Power Up, you earn points by carrying power cubes to areas called switches or scales and keeping those areas under your alliances control. Power cubes can be exchanged for power-ups, which give you the potential to get ahead of the other alliance by working together. Towards the end the game, you have to be the first alliance to climb one foot off the ground. The alliance with the highest points wins the game. Click here to see more details.

This week, the subteams are diving into the challenge with full force. The Programming team plans to debug past code and figure out new code for the autonomous portion of the game, which runs solely on the code they create. Business is working on some more sponsorships and is finishing award submissions, including the Woodie Flowers Award, the Chairman's Award, and the Entrepreneurship Awards. Find a full list of awards here. But it is the Design team that is in the spotlight this week: with the help Mechanical and Electrical teams, they are working on the chassis, the elevator, and the claws for the climbing mechanism to create a prototype of the robot we will be using this year. They are off to a great start, even though there were some problems due to miscommunication earlier in the week. We all cannot wait to see the finished and working prototype!

The design team assembles new gearboxes needed to begin prototyping our drive train and assembling our robot.
Join us at our team meetings, from January 6th to February 20th, on Mondays-Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. One way parents and/or guardians can be involved is by volunteering during regional competitions. Another way to help out is to assist in meetings as a mentor and teaching the students about their area of expertise, though no former or recent experience is needed to chaperone the students. Please contact Coach Guderyon at margaret.guderyon@franklin.k12.wi.us to talk about the details before you attend the meetings.
