Watch the released 2018 FIRST Robotics Competition game animation:
FIRST POWER UP

In this year’s challenge, Power Up, you earn points by carrying power cubes to areas called switches or scales and by controlling those areas with your alliance. Power cubes can be collected and used for power-ups, which gives you the ability to push ahead of the other alliance by working together. Towards the end the game, you have to be the first alliance to climb one foot off the ground. The alliance with the highest points wins the game. Click here to see more details.

All sub teams are persistently working their way through the challenge. Programming has effectively figured out how to turn, and they are continuing to perfect their autonomous code. Electrical is checking in more hours so that the wiring is finished and the mounting is completed as soon as possible so they can hand it off to the next sub team, as is Design. They have been putting in their own time to finish prototyping, and Mechanical has been reliably working to meet their demands, creating the parts necessary to go forward.

The design team assembles new gearboxes needed to begin prototyping our drive train and assembling our robot.

Join us at our team meetings, from January 6th to February 20th, on Mondays-Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. One way parents and/or guardians can be involved is by volunteering during regional competitions. Another way to help out is to assist in  meetings as a mentor and teaching the students about their area of expertise, though no former or recent experience is needed to chaperone the students. Please contact Coach Guderyon at margaret.guderyon@franklin.k12.wi.us to talk about the details before you attend the meetings.
